If the owner does not claim them within five days, they shall become the property of Greenwood Cemetery and disposed of.
Each Friday has been designated as Clean-Up Day for the removal of all flowers to facilitate mowing. Cut flowers are to be permitted at all times, provided they are in approved vases - no glass. Potted flowers, plants or baskets are permitted on Easter, Mother's Day, Father's Day, Memorial Day, Veterans' Day, All Soul's Day, Christmas, birthdays or anniversaries, but are not to remain more than five days. Planting of flowers may be done at the head of the stone, not to exceed eighteen inches from the stone, and must be kept free of grass and weeds, or will be removed. The Superintendent reserves the right to cut, trim down or remove any tree, shrub or bush now planted which becomes unsightly or unkept. All present trees, shrubs and bushes must be kept will within the boundaries of the lot and must in no way interfere with adjoining lots. Winter wreaths, boxes or floral blankets are to be allowed only from November 15 to April 1. After April 1 of each year, a general spring clean-up shall be given to the Cemetery. All winter wreaths, pots or other decorations shall be removed by the Superintendent and disposed of. Urns are allowed only from April 1 to October 1 and should be set on a concrete base. Due to the hazards in mowing, no artificial flowers are to be displayed from March 15 to November 15. The bottom of the base of every memorial shall be bedded true and level and the same size, to allow every part of it to be in contact with the foundation. The projection shall be kept flush with the surface of the terrain. Prior to commencement of installation, the Superintendent shall approve the location of the base of every monument. The Superintendent shall require every monument to be place either at the head or foot of the grave, whichever location is closer to the walkway, in order to insure adequate space within the cemetery; provided, however, that large family monuments with companion markers, located on family plots of four or more graves, are exempt from this walkway requirement. The Superintendent shall have the right to move any monument, at City expense, to bring the monument into compliance with the provisions of Chapter 951 of the Codified Ordinances. |
