Do I have to fill out the yellow postcard every year? Yes, you must fill out and return the postcard unless you file a return every year. This is required in order for us to keep tax accounts accurate. I work in a different city, what do I do when I file? We do give credit for local taxes withheld for another city up to 1.375%, but you must show proof of this on your W2. My employer doesn't take out any city taxes, what do I do? You may be required to make Quarterly Estimates throughout the year based on your income. Contact the Tax Department for specific answers to your situation. I didn't work last year, do I still have to file taxes? Yes. Filing is required even if you didn't work. If you didn't work, you must fill out a tax postcard and turn it in by the deadline. I only lived here part of the year so do I have to file? Yes. Even part-year residents must file for the time they lived in Willard. I use an E-filing program to file my taxes ( i.e Turbo Tax). Can I file my City taxes this way? No, we cannot receive E-filed tax returns. You must submit paper forms by mail or in person. Can I use RITA to file my city taxes? No, The City of Willard is not a part of RITA and tax returns cannot be filed for Willard using that system. I am retired and don't plan on working in the future. Do I still need to file? There are exemption forms available at City Hall for those who meet the requirements for exemption. Are City Tax and School District Tax the same? No. These are two separate taxes and we can only assist you with local city income taxes. Please do not include school district tax amounts on your city return. For questions regarding your School District Tax, please contact the Ohio Department of Taxation at 800-282-1780. |
