NEWS

US 224 SIDEWALK AND PEDESTRIAN IMPROVEMENTS
Through a grant with the Ohio Department of Transportation, the City of Willard replaced all sidewalks on US 224 between Main Street and Myrtle Ave.  The new sidewalks are handicap accessible and 5 feet wide.  Other pedestrian improvements occurred with this project.  In the future, we hope to see sidewalks on the rest of US 224.

WATER TREATMENT SYSTEM IMPROVEMENTS
The City completed a water system analysis to identify where our water system needs improved.  We bid out the project in late 2023 and construction began in 2024.  This will be a 10-million-dollar improvement.  The City secured a grant for over 5 million.  Construction should be completed in early 2026.

LEAD LINES
The City surveyed and examined records to determine any lead lines that we had in our system.  We identified 50 possibly locations.  We notified those properties and are currently excavating those areas to confirm whether or not those lines are lead.

OHIO PUBLIC WORKS COMMISSION PROJECTS
Every year we apply for a grant from the Ohio Public Works Commission.  This grant money is competitively awarded and every year for over the last ten years we have won a portion of that grant money.  We are happy to report that the City’s 2026 Street Improvements project has been recommended for approval, and the City is set to receive a grant of $125,000 for these improvements.
