FULL-TIME MAINTENANCE WORKER


The City of Willard is accepting applications for a full-time Maintenance Worker.  Applications can be obtained at www.willardohio.gov or in person and returned to the City Manager’s Office, P O Box 367, Willard OH 44890 through 4:00 pm on Monday, January 5, 2026.  There will be a non-refundable application fee of $5.00 due at the time the application is turned in to pay for testing materials.  On Wednesday, January 7 at 6:00 pm a written examination will be given in City Council Chambers, 631 Myrtle Avenue, Willard, Ohio.  Please note:  No one will be admitted into the room after 6:00 p.m.  A picture ID is also required at the time of testing.  Please request on your application if you require accommodations as a disabled person.
 
Summary of qualifications: 1) Have a valid State of Ohio driver’s license and ability to obtain a CDL-B within one year of appointment. 2) Must be a high school graduate or equivalent. Proof must be attached with your application. 3) Must be a U.S. citizen and a resident of Huron County or one of the abutting counties (Ashland, Crawford, Erie, Lorain, Richland, Sandusky or Seneca) within 6 months of hire. 4) Must pass a background investigation and a post offer drug screen, physical, and physical agility test.

​CITY ENGINEER 
The City of Willard is requesting proposals from qualified individuals and firms to provide civil engineering services to the City as the City Engineer.  The scope of these services includes, but is not limited to:  detail design for roadway, sanitary sewer, waterline, and storm sewer improvement projects; construction administration; subdivision review; site plan review; surveying; asset management; geographical information system (GIS); general contract administration and oversight of other professional consultants’ work; and various other duties relative to a typical City Engineer’s Office.  Parties interested in submitting a proposal along with their qualifications should carefully review this RFP/Q before preparing their proposal.  CLICK HERE FOR THE REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL.

For the past several years, the City Engineer position has been a contracted one, and a single individual has been performing this work. This person is retiring at the end of 2025.  Prior to this arrangement, the City had contracted with a firm.  The City is looking to enter into a contractual relationship with another firm or employment of a qualified individual, should the City receive a proposal that it believes is mutually beneficial and provides the best service to the City.

WILLARD POLICE DEPARTMENT
We are accepting applications for full-time POLICE OFFICER in the Willard Police Department. All candidates must complete the Frontline National exam through National Testing Network. Candidates selected for interviews must also submit a city application. Applications can be obtained online (www.willardohio.gov), at the National Testing Network site or in person.
Summary of qualifications: (1) Must be O.P.O.T.A. certified at the time of appointment. If the applicant is not certified, the city will offer an academy tuition scholarship up to $10,000. Candidates who receive the scholarship will be required to remain employed by the City of Willard for a minimum of 3 years after graduation. The tuition will be paid directly to the academy. (2) Must be a high school graduate or equivalent with proof attached. (3) Weight in proportion to height and body structure. (4) Must have a valid Operator’s License with proof attached. (5) Must be a U.S. citizen and a resident of Huron County or one of the abutting counties (Ashland, Crawford, Erie, Lorain, Richland, Sandusky or Seneca) within six months of hire. (6) Military Service Credit must be verified by a copy of your DD214 with your application.

Applicants who pass the written exam will be invited back for the interview process and subject to an extensive background investigation, extensive medical & drug screening and a polygraph examination, followed by interviews.

Depending on qualifications starting base salary for a full-time Police Officer is $50,835-$61,880 ($24.44 - $29.75 an hour). In addition to salary the City pays an additional 10% towards officers pension pickup, which equates to a base salary of $55,918 - $68,068 ($26.88 - $32.72). Current shift schedule consists of 3 – 12 hr shifts one week and 3 – 12 hr work shifts and 1 – 8hr shift the following week.
