PRESS RELEASE:The City of Willard is pleased to announce our Community Garden is returning to North Main Street this spring.
The City, along with Huron County Creating Healthy Communities Coalition and Huron County Public Health formed a partnership last year to bring the free garden to our residents. This was made possible from a Creating Healthy Communities grant from the Ohio Department of Health. Our mission is to create an inclusive garden that provides access to all ages and abilities. 14 residents participated in our first-year garden, and we look forward to this number growing each year. The garden plots will be tilled by the City of Willard in late April with the intention of the garden plots ready for assigned gardeners by May 1st (weather depending). Some gardening tools and water are available at the community garden for shared use. The Community Garden will have two raised beds available for those that may need them. Anyone interested in reserving a garden plot can pick up a garden application at City Hall or it can be found on our website at www.willardohio.us. For more information or any questions, please contact the Willard Park and Recreation Office at 419-935-1654. |
